# Learn car setup for iRacing

This online guide will help you learn how to create your own car setup or modify existing setups to suit your driving style, car and track. If you really want to get better at creating and modifying setups reading the entire guide will help you understand when to make what adjustment for what you are trying to do. Having said that if you don't have the time right now and are just looking for general guidelines on what to change to reduce oversteer or reduce understeer without really understanding the "why", then the [cheat sheet](/learn-car-setup-for-iracing/cheat-sheet-setup-changes-for-oversteer-and-understeer.md) section is a great place to start.

The section on [weight transfer](/learn-car-setup-for-iracing/weight-transfer.md) is important to be able to understand how car setups and driving technique affect the balance of the car, so you might want to start there.

If you want to learn how trail braking can help you affect the balance of the car into a corner, then the [Braking ](/learn-car-setup-for-iracing/driving-technique/braking.md)section is a great place to start. If you want to improve how you practice and prepare for a race, you might want to read the [Pre-Race Prep ](/learn-car-setup-for-iracing/driving-technique/pre-race-prep.md)section.

I hope this helps you get more out of racing.

Cheers

Martin Crisp
